IN PHOTOS: Little details about BTS's 'Dynamite' that makes it fun to watch
On August 21, the most popular boy group in the world, BTS, made their much-awaited return with the music video of their newest single “Dynamite.”
As expected from the septet, the music and its accompanying music video are full of fun moments and nitty-gritty details that make it fun to watch and rewatch again.
During their virtual press conference, BTS's leader RM shared that the song was a “new challenge” for the group since it is their first time singing a song entirely in English.
However, the feel-good song proved to be the group's highest record to date because it has already set a new record for the highest number of views in 24 hours and has continually swept the iTunes charts and Spotify's “Today's Top Hits” playlist.
Let's take a look at some of the little details that make the music video for “Dynamite” such a fun watch for ARMYs:
Dynamite
Like the lyrics, their music video is full of references to the album itself. From RM holding up a record at a shop to Jungkook in front of a “Dynamite” burger and doughnut shop to V hanging out by a “Dynamite” ice cream truck, the music video is filled with the song's title.
Jungkook's love for milk
ARMYs know that Jungkook has a penchant for drinking milk -- in particular, banana milk. In the music video, Jungkook starts the verse by drinking off a glass of milk and sings, “Shoes on, get up in the morn, cup of milk let's rock and roll.”
Jungkook raises a toast with a doughnut
If you've been a part of the fandom for the longest time, you know Jungkook loves his doughnuts, too. In 2013, a young Jungkook is seen getting excited upon seeing a box of Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnuts. Hence, in the video, Jungkook raises a toast with a doughnut to his hyungs.
RM's "Fire" hair
Who could ever forget RM rocking turquoise hair in the 2016 video, “FIRE?” In “Dynamite,” we see RM once again rocking this color but in a sleeker, more sophisticated cut.
The color motif
The K-pop genre is characterized by its vibrant color schemes and BTS is no exception. The septet has always been a fan of this color motif as evidenced by their previous music videos for “DNA,” “IDOL,” “Boy with Luv,” and now, “Dynamite.”
"Airplane"
Aside from the color motif, another recurring theme from BTS is the word “airplane.” In 2018, J-Hope released a song titled “Airplane” off of his solo mixtape “Hope World.” And then there's “Airplane pt. 2” in the group's album “Love Yourself: Tear.” In one of the sequences for “Dynamite,” you can spot an airplane overhead as the group dances away.
Michael Jackson
I think we can all agree that BTS is paying tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, in the music video. From the retro-feel of the music to their dance moves, “Dynamite” is very reminiscent of the late singer's signature style.
Tribute to artists
Aside from Michael Jackson, the sets for Jungkook's bedroom and RM's record store were filled with posters of popular artists such as David Bowie, ACDC, Queen, The Beatles, Wham, Guns N' Roses, Billy Idol, and so much more. Maybe it's their way of thanking these artists for inspiring their music? Who knows!
